Contents Page Analysis- 3. Q

3. Q

Blog 14:
Although this Contents Page is the 'blocky' look it looks very different from NME's. Instead of having a number of pictures in boxes, this contents only has 2. Instead of the photographs, there is greater detail of pages and descriptions. This suggests that this magazine has more substance and detail than NME may have. The colour scheme is red, black and grey. The things in red stand out. This has been used to catch the eye of the reader and draw their attention to a particular word or article. There is a 'special' section to this contents page. Intead of it being in the colour scheme previously described, it is in a gold font. The colour gold has connotations of importance and wealth and therefore suggests to the reader that this particular section is special and rare. The image of the man and the pillar suggests that the man is tall and powerful. This is because he reaches the top of the pillar (how much is visible anyway). The other, larger image, shows a band close together outside. This suggests that they are good friends and close to one another. The setting suggests they are natural and non superficial as it is a plain and simple natural landscape.

Overall I think that I may use a long photo in my contents as it stands out as the main article. I also think that I may use a specific colour scheme as I think it will draw the page together and make certain, important, articles stand out to the reader. As Q is slightly more mainstream, but still similar to NME, I will use Q inspirations when creating my magazine.
